Paulo Gomes is a distinguished investor, economist, and advisor with over 30 years of experience in sovereign and corporate advisory. His expertise spans strategy development, structural projects, and large-scale initiatives across the African continent.

He is the founder of Orango Investment Corporation, a strategic investment firm committed to leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA) to unlock Africa’s full economic potential. He is also the co-founder of New Capital African Partners, an investment platform targeting high-growth sectors across emerging markets.

Mr. Gomes has played a pivotal role in global and African financial institutions. As a former Executive Director at the World Bank, he represented 25 African nations, influencing policies and driving financial inclusion. He is a founding team member of the African Finance Corporation and a founding board member of the Green Climate Fund, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable finance.

Beyond finance, Paulo Gomes is actively engaged in conservation and public health initiatives. He serves on the Steering Committee of the Pan African Conservation Trust (APACT) and as a board member of the African Union COVID-19 Response Fund. Additionally, he is the Chairman of the BioGuinée Foundation in Guinea-Bissau and Co-Chair of the AfroChampions Initiative, which promotes Africa’s economic and industrial transformation.

Paulo Gomes has also contributed to strengthening Africa’s global partnerships. He serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Africa-South East Asia Chamber of Commerce (ASEACC), based in Singapore, fostering trade and investment linkages between the two regions. He was honored as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow by the Government of Singapore and the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies.

Mr. Gomes holds a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) in Economic Policy and Management from Harvard University and a BA in Economics and International Trade from Sciences Po and ILERI.

He has previously and currently held board memberships at: Ecobank, ASKY Airlines, AFIG Private Equity Fund, The African Capacity Building Foundation, The African Media Initiative, Roll Back Malaria, NSIA Ivory Coast, and Alta Mar Norway.
