Alkahtani, is an experienced professional in development with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. As the Executive Director of AGFUND, he has overseen the implementation of numerous impactful and sustainable initiatives, including the establishment of greenfield financial Inclusion banks, the blended open education, and the international development prize. The financial inclusion banks alone, provided US$ 1.2 billion worth of credit, resulting in uplifting lives of more than 7 million people.  

 Together with around 450 partner institutions like UN agencies and international organizations, and by the efforts and dedication of Alkahtani, AGFUND financially supported 1,748 projects in 133 countries targeting major development sectors such as women’s empowerment, youth, childhood development, capacity building and training, as well as poverty alleviation. Alkahtani, has served on several boards and committees, including those of the Swiss Capacity Building Facility (SCBF), the Global Executive Leadership Initiative (GELI), AGFUND Financial Inclusion Banks, the Arab Open University, the Arab Council for Childhood Development, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research, the Arab Network for NGOs. He has actively participated in regional and international conferences and workshops, contributing his vast experience to discussions on various issues in development. Moreover, Alkahtani is a member of the High- level Advisory Council that’s mandated to discuss the devastating impacts of desertification, land degradation and drought, urging immediate action from governments, businesses, academia, and foundations, and NGOs. The Council’s recommendations were presented at UNGA79 and COP16 in Riyadh in December 2024, with the goal of halting land degradation.  

  Furthermore, Alkahtani, has an extensive background and knowledge in investment too. He is the Chair of the AGFUND Investment Committee that’s responsible for generating income for AGFUND and therefore drives its sustainability. As of today, he supervising an investment portfolio of about US$ 700 million.  

  Alkahtani, is recognized for his charismatic leadership in driving strategic planning, organizational change by fostering an environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged. He is also well-known for establishing partnerships and linking stakeholders together.  

 Alkahtani, holds a master’s degree from the University of Miami as well as an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University, UK.
