Marial Dongrin Ater

Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater is the Minister of Finance and Planning for South Sudan, appointed in July 2024. He holds a PhD in Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi. Prior to his current ministerial role, Dr. Ater served as Deputy Commissioner for Research and Planning at the South Sudan Revenue Authority, where he played a key role in shaping policy and establishing the legal frameworks that underpinned the Authority’s full operational capacity.

Dr. Ater has built a successful career over the years in the banking sector. His expertise spans various areas, including retail management and strategic planning.

As incumbent Minister of Finance, Dr. Ater now focuses on advancing public financial management reforms and promoting economic stability and sustainable development in the country.
