Minister Ameer Meea directs the full scope of Mauritius’s industrial policy, SME development, and cooperative sector governance. He is the principal architect of a comprehensive legislative and strategic reform programme designed to reposition Mauritius as a competitive, production-oriented economy. His reform agenda rests on four pillars: a new Industry Bill to modernise the country’s industrial legislative framework; a dedicated SME Bill to provide the small and medium enterprise sector with a bespoke legal framework covering the full enterprise lifecycle; a National Industry Strategic Plan, being developed in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), targeting agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and green industry; and a complementary National SME Strategic Plan addressing structural constraints in access to finance, skills development, digital adoption, and market connectivity.
