Mrs. Dagmawit Moges Bekele is the Director of the Peace Fund Secretariat at the African Union, a position she has held since March 2023. Prior to this role, she served as Ethiopia's Minister of Transport and Logistics from October 2018 to January 2023.Mrs. Moges holds a BA in Public Administration and Development Management (PADM) and an MA in Public Management and Policy (MPMP) from Addis Ababa University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Management at the University of South Africa. Her career in public service began as the General Manager of Kolfe Keraneyo Sub-City in the Addis Ababa City Government. She subsequently held positions as the Head of the Micro and Small Enterprises Development Bureau, Deputy Head of the Trade and Industry Bureau, and Deputy Head of the Capacity Building Bureau of the Addis Ababa City Government. Mrs. Moges has also served as a Deputy Mayor, Cabinet member, Communication Affairs Bureau Head, and Board Chairperson of Addis Ababa Mass Media Agency. Mrs. Dagmawit Moges has a strong record of governance and leadership. She has been a Cabinet member of FDRE and a Member of the House of People’sRepresentatives of Ethiopia. She currently serves as a Board member of Addis Ababa University and has previously held positions as the Board Chairperson of the Ethiopian Roads Authority, Woldiya University, and the Ethiopian Postal Service Enterprise. Additionally, she has served as a Board member of Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopian Petroleum Enterprise, and Investment and Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Throughout her career, Mrs. Moges has garnered significant recognition for her leadership in public administration, transport, and logistics. She was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in African Supply Chain by the African Women in Supply Chain Association, in partnership with Sincpoint. Her work in transportation and logistics earned her the recognition as one of the 21 Heroes of 2021 by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) for her outstanding contributions to urban mobility and sustainable transport solutions across Africa. Mrs. Moges is also a recognized advocate for women’s leadership in Africa. She is one of the 15 Amujae Leaders selected by the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center), a prestigious program that supports and empowers African women in leadership roles. Additionally, she has been celebrated as one of the Top 100 Career Women in Africa by 9to5chick, a platform that recognizes excellence and professionalism in Africa. Mrs. Moges was also named one of the 100 most reputable Africans in 2023. Smarter Mobility Africa has recognized her as a top woman in mobility in Africa, and she has received a Change Maker’s Leadership Award from Aviators Africa.
